Getting there

From Zurich to Davos.

By car, with a chauffeur

174 km and about two hours from Zurich Airport, on the motorway past Lake Walen and up into the mountains. Door to door with your luggage; during WEF week, allow extra time for traffic and checks.

By train

Swiss Federal Railways to Landquart, then the Rhaetian Railway to Davos Dorf or Davos Platz. From Zurich Airport, count on two and a half to three hours with changes, plus the way to your hotel.

By private jet

Private jets can land at Zurich Airport, where we collect guests at the private aviation terminal. St. Gallen-Altenrhein, about 115 km from Davos, is a smaller airport nearer to Davos.

By helicopter

During the meeting, helicopter traffic to Davos is regulated, and flights depend on permits and the weather. Keep a road transfer as a back-up.

Security

What changes during the meeting.

Checks on the way in

In 2026, the police checked people, vehicles and luggage on every road into Davos. Queues are possible: plan a margin.

Security zones

The Congress Centre and several hotels and venues around it lie in security zones. People need the right badge to enter, vehicles a permit.

Permits for your car

If your car needs to enter a restricted zone, we apply for the permit on request. This requires a contract signed at least 30 days before WEF; the authorities decide.

The rest of the town

In 2026, Davos stayed accessible by car, train and bus, and hotels and businesses outside the zones worked normally.

Airspace

The airspace over Davos is restricted during the meeting, for drones too.

Official information

The Canton of Graubünden and the municipality of Davos publish the measures for each meeting before it starts: see the links below.

In Davos

Getting around during the week.

One valley, one main street

Davos Dorf and Davos Platz lie a few kilometres apart along the valley. Hotels, venues and receptions are spread along the Promenade and the streets around it, where traffic is densest.

Parking is scarce

Parking is limited and strictly enforced: during WEF week 2026, the police issued 359 parking fines. With a chauffeur, you are dropped at the door and collected when you call.

Walking in winter

Pavements can be icy and crowded. Shoes with good grip make the walks between venues much easier.

A chauffeur by the hour

Booked by the hour (at least 8 hours during WEF week), your chauffeur waits nearby and takes you between meetings, hotels and receptions.

Accommodation

Where to stay.

Near the Congress Centre

Hotels around the Congress Centre and along the Promenade are the most convenient, and the first to be fully booked. Book as early as you can.

Davos Dorf

The northern part of the town is a few minutes’ drive from the Congress Centre.

Klosters

About 12 km from Davos, 15 to 20 minutes by car, and often used as a base during WEF. During WEF week, we drive between Klosters and Davos by the hour.

Further away

Landquart, Bad Ragaz and Chur are 45 minutes to an hour away. A daily commute with a chauffeur works; plan for the checks on the way into Davos.

Weather

January in the mountains.

Cold and bright

Davos lies at about 1,560 m. In January the average temperature is around −4 °C, with nights near −9 °C (1991–2020 averages).

Snow and ice

Fresh snow is common. Bring a warm coat, gloves and shoes with good grip; overshoes help if you wear business shoes.

Dress for both

Business attire inside, winter outside: a coat that fits over a suit jacket, and gloves in your pocket.

Checklist

What to plan, and when.

  1. As soon as you know

Book your hotel and your transport: in Davos, both fill up months ahead. Our online booking is open up to twelve months ahead.

  2. At least 30 days before WEF

Does your car need to enter a restricted zone? Sign the transport contract, so that we can apply for the permit.

  3. 14 days before pickup

Confirm your programme: WEF bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 14 days before pickup.

  4. A few days before

Send us flight numbers, hotel addresses and the contact of your assistant. Before the pickup, you receive the name and mobile number of your chauffeur.

  5. On the day

Allow extra time for traffic and checks, keep your phone on, and have your badge and ID at hand.

About two hours without traffic. During WEF week, allow extra time for traffic and the checks on the roads into Davos, especially on the days when most participants arrive.
